Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Faction Ledger ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Faction Ledger is a campaign management platform for tabletop role-playing games. It provides tools for Dungeon Masters and players to manage factions, NPCs, quests, session recordings, rumors, and campaign data.

3. User Accounts

• You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
• You must be at least 13 years of age to use this Service.
• One person may not create multiple accounts to circumvent free tier limitations.

4. Subscription & Payments

• Certain features are available only under a paid DM Membership (monthly or yearly).
• Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you also agree to Stripe's terms of service.
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the renewal date.
• We reserve the right to change pricing with at least 30 days' notice to active subscribers.
• Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact us within 7 days of a charge if you believe a billing error occurred.

5. Your Content

You retain full ownership of all campaign content you create in Faction Ledger — including NPCs, faction descriptions, notes, and session recordings.

By uploading content to the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store and process that content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Upload content that is illegal, hateful, or infringes on third-party intellectual property.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or exploit the platform's APIs or infrastructure.
• Harass or harm other users, including players in your campaigns.
• Circumvent access controls or subscription limitations through technical means.

7. Intellectual Property

The Faction Ledger name, logo, interface design, and underlying code are our intellectual property. You may not reproduce or redistribute them without written permission. Your campaign content remains entirely yours.

8. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any loss of campaign data, service interruptions, or indirect damages arising from your use of the platform.

We strongly recommend regularly exporting your campaign data as a backup measure.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may close your account at any time. Upon termination, your data will be retained for 30 days before permanent deletion, during which you may request an export.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify active users by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
